Ok, so we’ve all been chatting a lot about Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Skyblivion lately, but here’s another weird link between them.
It’s a YouTuber who’s racked up over 1000 daily kills of the Adoring Fan so far while they wait for the modding project – which now looks free of DMCA worries – to drop, the latest being in the freshly-released official remaster.
I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to stumble across the channel of PuppyZaurus, given I’ve been known to love a good ‘kill an annoying Bethesda NPC thousands of times until something releases’ challenge – hello, Nazeem – but I have now and it’s pretty glorious.
They’ve just hit day 1143 in their quest to kill the arena’s foremost Grand Champion enthusiast, which kicked off two years ago on April 25, 2022. In that time they’ve jumped from the original Oblivion to Skyrim with an Adoring Fan follower mod, brining us all the way up to now, when they’ve added a third game to that list.

As you can see above, kill 1143 has seen them upgrade to Oblivion Remastered. So, what grand murder plan did they roll out for this momentous occasion? Well, they console commanded the newly-revamped Fan and his still infinitely punchable face right into the starter prison cell, and, er, punched him.
Yep, just your classic punch a chatty guy right in the kisser til he falls down and doesn’t get up sort of kill. Simple, but by Azura was it effective. So effective, in fact, that they saw the notification to say that the Dark Brotherhood had noticed their killing right at the end. Sure, that happens whoever your first kill in an Oblivion playthrough is, but I’d like to think this one in particular had Lucien Lachance and the Night Mother going ‘Daaaaaammnnnn, you cold’.
We’ll have to see where they go from here, and with the other mission they’ve got going on – killing Arthur Morgan every day until GTA 6 drops. They’re up to day 843 with that one, which is also impressive dedication. Or a hobby that’s very hard to explain to your relatives. Or both.
